DESPERATE ACTIONS FOR DESPERATE TIMES
Desperate'actions for desperate times
CAN I remind all those who think that the new anti-terror leglislation is draconian and kneejerk that it has only been made in response to the most evil, draconian and fascist terrorist act that Northern Ireland has seen since the Irish civil war (for those of you who know their irish history).
These new laws are required in order to stamp out once and for all the terrorist organisations who are not on ceasefire at the minute.
I think that it is disgusting that the RUC, Garda and even some English national newspapers know who the leading members of the so-called Real IRA are, but the police can't pick them up. The Daily Mirror even had photographs of four of the Omagh murderers on their front page last week.
Why are these men not in jail now? The most fitting tribute to the victims of that atrocity is to have the perpetraitors behind bars ASAP.
In fact personally I think the most fitting tribute would be if Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness would match their words of condemnation with actions by ordering their associates in the Provisional IRA to assassinate the people who made that bomb, as I'm sure if the Daily Mirror know who those men and women are, Sinn Fein will know as well.
These words come not from an extemist, but from someone who was a moderate up until my mother and little brother were caught up in Omagh on Saturday August 15. Both are still in hospital, my mother with around five fractured bones, and my little brother, aged 12, with his leg blown off.
People who can do that to women and children deserve everything that's coming to them from the law and elsewhere.
