Omagh victim leaves hospital

THE last Omagh bomb patient being treated at the town's Tyrone County Hospital has been discharged.
The release from the hospital, which was the venue for almost unimaginable scenes of horror in the hours following the explosion, brought to an end 16 days of frantic activity by staff.
However, although the last of the physically injured patients has gone home, the health authorities in Omagh are still on standby to deal with local people suffering from shock and trauma.
The discharge was being seen as another sign that Omagh is recovering physically from the bomb, if not yet mentally or emotionally.
The Omagh hospital had been swamped with casualties in the aftermath of the horror attack on Saturday August 15.
Staff witnessed unbearable scenes as they struggled to cope with the sheer weight of casualties from the bomb which killed 28.
However, yesterday afternoon 34 people hurt in the attack, three critical, remained in other hospitals across Northern Ireland.
Fifteen of the injured, including four Spaniards, were still in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where three people, two women and one man, were said to be still critical in intensive care.
There were nine patients in Derry's Altnagelvin hospital. Two were described as ill but stable and the other seven stable.
In Enniskillen's Erne Hospital all three female patients were said to be comfortable.
In Belfast's City Hospital there were two female patients. One, a 75-year-old woman was stable, while a 21-year-old woman was in a comfortable condition.
Four female patients remain at Belfast's Ulster Hospital. One 53-year-old is ill but stable while the other three, including two teenagers aged 14 and 15, were comfortable.
