Brave bomb victim completes studies

FOR Omagh bomb victim Pauline Green, yesterday marked another important stage on her journey back to recovery.
Pauline (19) lost a leg in the August 15 explosion in her native Omagh which left 29 people dead and hundreds injured.
But yesterday was a day for celebration of the teenager's tremendous courage in completing her studies at Limavady School of Art.
The Limavady College of Further Education graduation ceremony at the Radisson hotel seemed a long way from her fight for survival after she was struck by the engine of the car used in the bombing.
Alter a long struggle at Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital, doctors were forced to amputate her left leg below the knee. She was also treated for 30 per cent burns to her body, a punctured lung, fractured collarbone and shrapnel wounds.
After leaving hospital only two weeks ago, she was determined to graduate in foundation studies in art and design with her fellow students.
Head of Limavady's art school Paul Little paid tribute to Pauline's courage and determination.
"We hope she will be able to continue her studies at art college in the University of Ulster, Belfast, next year," he said.
Before yesterday's ceremony, Pauline was one of the special guests at a lunch with her tutors.
It had been intended that she would receive her diploma in a private ceremony but Pauline said she wanted to share the occasion with her classmates in the main graduation.
