AN EASIER ROAD FOR PEOPLE OF OMAGH
An easier road for people of Omagh

PEOPLE still traumatised by the Omagh bomb will be able to take an alternative route on a candlelight procession in the town this Sunday.
The procession, organised by Omagh Church Forum, is an initiative which is hoped will offer spiritual solace to the townspeople who still need support.
The route, from Drumragh car park through Market Street to the Courthouse, has a diversion in place avoiding the site of the explosion in Market Street.
Kathleen McNamee of Omagh Church Forum said the people of the town were still emotionally scarred by the August atrocity.
She said: "People still cannot walk through the area in their normal day to day life, so this has been put in place for anyone who wants to make use of it."
Mrs McNamee said the procession, ending with a carol and reading service, was for people who may feel more comfortable at a church service.
She said: "We know that people may not be able to face award presentations or concerts in honour of the people of Omagh and the people who died, so the churches decided to set aside their traditional carol services in order to be together on a special occasion.
Meanwhile, the Omagh Christmas Festival has planned a number of events for this Saturday. Omagh College will be showcasing young local talent in their 'Unplugged' session. The Orpheus Choir from Sligo will visit the town centre, which will be followed by 'Sounds of Christmas' carol singing.
The Western Education and Library Board Youth Orchestra will play the town centre on Saturday and the Performing Clowns will also appear for a three hour show.
