The president's schedule
THIS is the schedule for today's visit to Northern Ireland by the President of the United States, Bill Clinton.
He will arrive at Belfast International Airport on Airforce One from Moscow at around 8.30am this morning and be met by the Lord Lieutenant for County Antrim, Lord O'Neill, the prime minister Tony Blair, secretary of state Mo Mowlam, minister of state Paul Murphy, and the chief constable Ronnie Flanagan.
From the airport Mr Clinton will travel to Parliament Buildings Stormont where he will be met on the front steps by assembly first minister David Trimble and deputy first minister Seamus Mallon.
The Clinton party will then go inside Parliament Buildings and be greeted by presiding officer Lord Alderdice and the president is expected to sign the visitors book.
Following this there will be a number of private meetings and the president will also meet a delegation of congressmen.
In the long gallery which is on the first floor of the east wing of Parliament Buildings Mr Clinton will meet with Northern Ireland's newly elected 108 assembly members.
About an hour-and-a-half later Mr Clinton will leave Stormont and arrive at the Waterfront Hall where he will be met by the Lord Lieutenant of Belfast, colonel James Elliot Wilson, the lord mayor of Belfast councillor David Alderdice and the Sheriff for the County Borough of Belfast councillor James Clarke.
The president is expected to have a number of private meetings and may join with representatives of the Industrial Development Board for discussions as well as having talks with senior company executives from US companies operating in Northern Ireland.
Later the president will give a keynote address at the Waterfront Hall before departing after midday for Springvale where he will be met by the vice-chancellor of the University of Ulster Lord Smith of Clifton, and the principal of the Belfast Institute of Further and Higher Education, professor Patrick Murphy.
It is understood he will meet two pupils from schools on the peaceline - Gerard Quinn, Corpus Christi College and Margaret Gibney, Mount Gilbert Community College.
Later in the afternoon Mr Clinton will travel by helicopter from Belfast City Airport and arrive at Omagh. He will drive to Omagh leisure centre. There the prime minister and the president will meet with a large number of relatives and survivors of the Omagh tragedy.
On leaving the leisure centre the presidential cavalcade will go to Market Street where a plaque will be unveiled near to the scene of the bombing. Then at High Street wreaths will be laid at shops which lost staff in the explosion.
Mr Clinton and Mr Blair will speak with emergency workers, many of whom attended the injured in the immediate aftermath of the attack.
Before 6pm Mr Clinton will arrive in Armagh by helicopter from Omagh and be met by the Lord Lieutenant the Earl of Caledon.
The mayor of Armagh will present city civic leaders to the president.
The president will also meet with church leaders in The Mall - the Most Rev Lord Eames (Lord Archbishop of Armagh), Most Rev Sean Brady (Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland), Rev David Kerr (President Methodist Church in Ireland), and Rev Dr John Dixon (Moderator Presbyterian Church in Ireland).
Before the president's arrival in The Mall members of the public will be entertained by a cross-community choir and folk singer Mary Black.
The president will deliver a speech at the Mall green and then fly by helicopter to Dublin.
This morning first lady Hillary Clinton will visit together with the prime minister's wife Cherie the Playboard Scheme in Belfast.
Playboard has for the past eight years undertaken research and training on the impact of violence and sectarianism in children.
