HUNDREDS of people, both Catholic and Protestant, packed the streets of Armagh under the shadow of St Patrick's Cathedral to show their solidarity with the people of Omagh on Saturday.
A period of reflection and prayer was followed by a minute's silence at 3.10pm, the time of the explosion in Omagh.
People from both communities shook hands as a sign of peace and listened as Rev John McKegney, rector of St Mark's Church, spoke of "hope of a new day of dawning in which hate, violence, tears and death would have no part".
"We want the people of Omagh, Buncrana, and Spain to know they are not alone in their pain.
"Even after a week, it is still impossible to comprehend the scale of human suffering that has been inflicted on innocent people," he said.
Rev McKegney also paid his respects to all the victims of the troubles.
He said: "We want those whose wounds and hurt have been re-opened by this evil deed to know their suffering is not forgotten."
