DERRY DEMONSTRATES SYMPATHY WITH OMAGH
Derry demonstrates sympathy with Omagh

DERRY'S DUP mayor and Sinn Fein deputy mayor will unite tomorrow to commemorate the 28 people killed in last Saturday's Omagh bombing.
Mayor Joe Miller and Deputy Mayor Lynn Fleming will join the leaders of the main Churches for a period of reflection and prayer to express sympathy and solidarity with the people of Omagh.
Starting at 2.45pm at Guildhall Square, the commemoration will culminate at 3.10pm the moment when the Omagh bomb went off.
And, in a gesture of sympathy with the bereaved, all shops in Derry, both city side and Waterside, will hold a two-minute silence at 3.10pm tomorrow.
Throughout this week, thousands of people have been signing condolence books throughout the north west.
At Derry's Guildhall, an estimated 2,000 people signed a book of condolences within two days. The book will remain open for the next week.
Books of condolences have also been opened in Limavady and Strabane and commemoration services are expected to be organised in both towns.
Commemorations will also take place tomorrow in Buncrana where three young boys from the town lost their lives.
Oran Doherty, Sean McLaughlin and James Barker were killed in the Omagh bombing while on a day trip with a number of Spanish students. One of the Spanish students and a superviser were also killed.
It was also revealed yesterday that 22 casualties of the Omagh bombing are still being treated at Derry's Altnagelvin hospital.
A spokesman at Altnagelvin confirmed that two patients were critical, two very seriously ill, three ill and 13 stable.
Those being treated at Altnagelvin include victims who sustained multiple fractures, shrapnel, wounds, lacerations and other injuries. A number of the victims have undergone amputations.
A number of doctors and nurses were called in from home to help deal with Saturday's tragedy.
Altnagelvin transferred blood back to Omagh while receiving supplies from hospitals in Coleraine and Letterkenny.
Chief executive at Altnagelvin, Stella Burnside revealed that among those being treated at the Derry hospital are a mother and son and a mother and daughter. Two Spanish children are also being treated.
