Dead to be honoured across Northern Ireland

A MINUTE'S silence will fall over Northern Ireland tomorrow as a community mourns the loss of 28 innocent lives in Omagh last Saturday.
The leaders of the four main churches in Northern Ireland have asked that people observe the silence at 3.10pm tomorrow afternoon, to reflect on the bombing tragedy that devastated so many families. Vigils of remembrance will be held to coincide with the gesture.
The Northern Ireland Community Relations Council has urged people to support the minute's silence.
"There have been 28 deaths so far and over 200 injuries as a result of the bomb in Omagh. We need time to think, we need to ensure that the
hope which came with the ceasefires, the agreement, the referendum and the elections is not also a victim and is not lost."
Monsignor Tom Toner of St Peter's Cathedral, Belfast, who will lead a gathering at the Cathedral from 3pm to 3.30pm tomorrow, said that the services may express what words cannot:.
"We will toll our funeral bell at 3.10pm on Saturday and between each toll, we will read the name of one of the victims. We want to try to reflect the mood of people where words have failed - I think we need such symbolic gestures.
"People will come to the vigils just to be there, somewhere to express their grief and pain for the bereaved and also, I believe, to reject the people who have done this."
St Anne's Cathedral will also hold a service of remembrance at the same time. The cathedral will be open from 9am to 4pm on Saturday for private prayer and all Sunday services at St Anne's will be offered for those affected by the tragedy.

Antrim: All Saints Church of Ireland, Church Street, 2.30pm.
Lisburn: Market Square, 3pm -3.15pm, book of condolences available to sign.
Whiteabbey village: Whiteabbey Presbyterian Church, 3pm - 3.15pm
Ballyclare: Town hall, 3pm -3.15pm
Dunmurry: the park, Kingsway, 2.45pm-3.10pm.
Derry: the Guildhall, 2.45pm -3.15pm
East Belfast: Cregagh Presbyterian Church, 3.30pm
Ballynafeigh: the Good Shepherd Church, Ormeau Road, 2.45pm -3.10pm
Magherafelt: The Diamond, 2.45pm
Stewardstown: Catholic Church, 2.45pm
Cookstown: Catholic Church, 3pm
Templepatrick: Loanends Presbyterian Church, 2.50pm
