Cross-community party attracts stars

A POP legend and top football stars are due to attend a massive cross-community children's peace party in Co Antrim which the organisers say will show most people in Northern Ireland want peace after the Omagh bomb.
Chris De Burgh and Glasgow Celtic players Tom Boyd and Jackie McNamara will attend the Portrush party along with 1,200 children.
It has been organised by the NICE (Northern Ireland Childrens Events) charity and chairman Brian Mitchell said it had been planned for a year but "recent tragic events in Omagh stress the need to work to establish a harmony and understanding between the differing cultures in Ireland.
"The message of the day is 'We are equal and we want peace'. This day will help show the rest of the world that the majority of the people in Ireland want peace."
The 'Children's Big Day Out' started six years ago with the aim of alleviating poverty in deprived areas of Belfast and beyond and helping to unite Catholics and Protestants.
