Alliance praises Omagh medics

STAFF at the Tyrone County Hospital have been praised by the interim leader of the Alliance Party, Sean Neeson.
Mr Neeson, who made the comments after visiting Omagh yesterday afternoon, said that all of the dedicated members of staff at the hospital "undoubtedly saved lives".
And he used the incident as an argument for maintaining acute care at the hospital.
"After spending much of yesterday in Omagh, I believe that not only the dedication of the nurses and doctors saved lives, but the existence of the hospital made a significant contribution," he said.
"The very existence of this hospital has been under consideration for some time and I believe that its strategic location underlines its importance to the whole area.
"The determination to keep the Tyrone County Hospital was one of the strongest messages that I heard in the hospital and on the streets of Omagh.
"That's why I think it's necessary for the government to make no further changes in the hospital services throughout Northern Ireland.
"No changes should be made to the hospital service until powers are transferred from London to Belfast early next year."
