MCALEESE TO ATTEND FUNERAL

McAleese to attend funeral

PRESIDENT Mary McAleese is to attend the funeral of victims of the Omagh bomb today.
The Irish president will attend the service at St Mary's Church, Cockhill, Buncrana, Co Donegal.
President McAleese will also attend the Act of Prayerful Reflection for the victims in the Centre of Omagh, on Saturday.
She will attend a further service for the victims to be held in St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, on Sunday.
The Minister for Public Enterprise, Mary O'Rourke will represent the Irish government at today's funerals in Buncrana.
Meanwhile, an Internet book of condolence opened yesterday by RTE has already attracted over 3,000 signatures.
The Omagh Bombing Book of Condolence can be accessed at the RTE website on http://www.rte.ie/
It was unclear last night whether Secretary of State Mo Mowlam would attend any of the victims' funerals.
A spokesman said: "Her first priority was to respect the wishes of the families concerned and their need to grieve.
"If, however, a family in Northern Ireland would like a representative of the Secretary of State to attend, Dr Mowlam would be privileged to arrange this."
