TD extends sympathy to families of victims

SINN Fein TD Caoighin O'Caolain also condemned the bombing, and extended his sympathies to the bereaved. He said the perpetrators were conducting an "ill-conceived campaign" and attempting to destroy the peace process.
"I utterly deplore the bombing in Omagh. I extend deepest sympathies on behalf of myself, my constituents in Cavan and Monaghan, and my party, to the bereaved and injured.
"Those responsible for this atrocity are attempting to destroy the peace process. They clearly hold themselves accountable to no community or political constituency. It is incumbent on those of us who condemn their actions, as we do, also to appeal to them to desist.
"Their ill-conceived campaign is setting back the cause they claim to serve. We must spare no effort to press on with the peace process so that such tragedies can never reoccur." he said.
