Victims should be considered first'

THE victims of the Omagh bomb should be uppermost in people's minds, according to the Bishop of Down and Connor, Patrick Walsh.
Speaking at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast moments after meeting the victims and relatives of the bomb horror, a visibly moved Bishop Walsh also praised the efforts of the medical staff.
"The people should come first and our thoughts should be with the relatives and the victims of this tragedy.
"I came here to simply to see the relatives and it's been very harrowing to see the suffering that people are enduring."
Bishop Walsh said he was particularly saddened to learn of the Spanish children who were caught up in the bomb. Several of them were killed and some were still being treated in the Royal for very serious head injuries.
"One feels particularly saddened for them. What should have been a pleasant trip to Ireland has become a tragedy."
He said that he wished that the perpetrators of the bomb could come to the hospital to see the suffering they had caused.
