£2.3m aid package for people of Omagh

NORTH Health Minister John McFaul yesterday unveiled a £2.3m aid package to help the people of Omagh cope with the aftermath of the August bomb attack.
Twenty-nine men women and children died when a bomb ripped through the town centre on the afternoon of August 15, an atrocity that also claimed the lives of two unborn babies.
Mr McFaul, who visited the town yesterday, said the money would be used for health and education projects. He was impressed with schemes already developed to help.
Without additional money to deal with the long-term effects of the tragedy other patients would inevitably remain longer on waiting lists, he said.
Mr McFaul said while Christmas would be a sad time it would also be a time of hope that such atrocities would never happen again.
