Celtic gives to Omagh fund
A HEROIC Celtic supporter who helped victims of the Omagh bombing has been tracked down by the club.
The youth was seen on television clad in his Celtic shirt as he waded through the rubble moments after the blast which killed 28 people.
Now Sean O'Connor (19) has been traced by Celtic Football Club, who want him to accept the proceeds of a disaster fund on behalf of the victims' families.
The teenager, from Dromore, near Omagh, is to travel to Dublin next week to receive the proceeds of a performance of The Celtic Story, which is being performed to a gala audience.
The Omagh atrocity was Sean's second brush with tragedy. Last year his close friend Paul McGirr died after being injured during an Ulster Minor Football Championship match while playing for Tyrone against Armagh.
Food retailers, wholesalers and producers are also organising a fundraising scheme. They have planned the Omagh Grocery Black Tie Benefit Ball at Dublin's RDS later this month.
