Gardai focus on logistics cell for bombers

TWO men were being quizzed last night by Gardai spearheading the investigation into the activities of the terrorist group responsible for the Omagh bomb.
A breakthrough in the probe into the car bomb intercepted by members of the Garda's emergency response unit at Dun Laoghaire car ferry last April has already resulted in a massive search along the Kildare-Meath border since Saturday last.
A man who was arrested in the Rathcoffey area on Wednesday was still being questioned last night at Monaghan garda station.
And another suspect detained under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act in north Kildare yesterday was being held at Carrickmacross station which is the centre of the hunt for those who took the Vauxhall Cavalier car used in the Omagh bomb.
Several arrests have been made in north Kildare in the past week as detectives focus on a cell they believe played a key logistics role for the self-styled Oglaigh na hEireann or Real IRA.
The Garda inquiries are centring on republican activists believed to have been involved in manufacturing the Dun Laoghaire bomb and supplying jeeps and cars to the splinter group. The cell is led by an active republican based in north Kildare.
