PREMIERE £50,000 FOR OMAGH
Premiere £50,000 for Omagh
By MARTHA KEARNS
THE high-profile premiere of The Celtic Story was tinged with sadness last night as the tragedy of the Omagh bombing was recalled.
A £50,000 cheque for the Scottish/Irish Omagh Fund, raised by the play's premiere in Dublin's Gaiety, was presented to Taoiseach Bertie Ahern by two children who suffered as a result of the bomb - Aisling Doherty (16) from Buncrana, Co Donegal, who lost her brother Oran, and Sean O'Connor (19) from Tyrone who was seen on tv screens helping victims while wearing his Celtic jersey.
The musical, which traces the history of the Scottish football club, is in Dublin until Sept 26.
