Sick caller torments Omagh bereaved

A PERVERTED telephone caller has been tormenting two Donegal families whose sons were killed in the Omagh bombing.
The McLaughlin and Doherty families of Buncrana have received a string of calls in recent days. The male caller who lowers his voice to avoid detection asks for the two boys before hanging up. The incident has shocked the close-knit Donegal community and angered the families of both Oran Doherty and Shaun McLaughlin, two pals killed in the horrific blast.
An angry John McLaughlin, father of Shaun, said yesterday he was disgusted by the "sick and twisted" man.
"We just can't believe that anyone can be so cruel after everything that has happened. How could anybody get a kick out of doing something like this?" he asked.
Mr McLaughlin, a local taxi driver, said at first he thought the caller did not realise that his son had been killed.
It was only when he checked with the Doherty family, who are neighbours, on Knockalla Drive, that the full extent of the incident became apparent.
Mr McLaughlin said the calls had prevented his family from recovering from their nightmare. "We are all just living on edge waiting for the phone to ring, wondering if it is him. It is hard enough to cope without something like this going on.
