Hume, Adams opt of out Peace Trip
Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams has cancelled a planned trip to Sarajevo for a Global crisis conference.
Mr. Adams was to be among the political leaders from global hot-spots gathering in Sarajevo today to share ideas on how to end conflicts.
But organisers said he was too tied up with, peace negotiations in his own country to attend. SDLP leader, John Hume, also cancelled, but other politicians from South Africa, Cyprus and Bosnia will attend, according to the organisers. The North will be represented by David Trimble, the Ulster Unionist Party leader and first minister of Northern Ireland's new cross-community government; and Lord Alderdice, moderator of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
Others taking part are former Canadian Foreign Minister- Flora McDonald, South African Justice Minister AM Omar and the former commander of the NATO led peace force in Bosnia, William Nash.
The one-day panel discussion is organized by Hunt Alternatives and the Carnegie Commission on Preventing Deadly Conflict
