SCHOOLBOY VICTIM GETS HUGE BOOST
Schoolboy victim gets huge boost
LEEDS United manager George Graham chartered a helicopter and flew to the bedside of a young victim of the Omagh bomb blast, it was revealed yesterday.
He made the mercy dash after hearing how the first words eight-year-old Leeds supporter Emmet McLaughlin uttered, since regaining consciousness, were "Ian Harte" - the name of one of United's Irish stars.
Emmet, who has serious burns to his face and hands as well as shrapnel wounds, and whose cousin Sean McLaughlin (12) was killed in the blast, was visited yesterday in the intensive care unit of the Erne Hospital in Enniskillen.
Mr Graham was told about the young fan after landing at Dublin Airport for Leeds United's friendly game against Shelbourne last night.
He said: "I felt horror and shock at seeing the wee lad's face and hands so badly burned. I'm just glad we had the chance to lift his spirit."
The visit happened as Emmet's cousin Sean was buried in Buncrana.
