PUBLIC INVITED TO SIGN BOOKS OF CONDOLENCE
Public invited to sign books of condolence
BOOKS of condolence have opened around the capital to allow people express their sympathy with the victims of the Omagh bombing. Dublin's Lord Mayor Joe Doyle was the first to sign a book of condolence in the Mansion House at noon yesterday.
The book will remain open from noon to 6pm until Friday. President Mary McAleese is expected to sign it this morning.
South Dublin County Council opened a book of condolence at the Town Centre, Tallaght, and at Main St, Clondalkin. They will remain open until Friday from 2pm to 4pm daily.
A further book was opened at Christ Church Cathedral where prayers for peace will be said daily at 12 noon.
Dublin County of Trade Unions are planning a vigil outside the GPO on Thursday at 6pm to show sympathy for the bomb victims.
In Belfast a silent vigil to honour the dead and injured in the explosion will be held at Belfast City Hall today
The lunchtime mark of respect will take place between 1pm and 1.15pm.
