Father of dead Buncrana boy calls for bombers to stop
DESPITE overwhelming grief, having just buried their son James, with his two friends Shaun and Oran, Mr Victor Barker said that he was not looking for the perpetrators of the carnage that killed his son, to be punished, but if it brings an end to the violence it will bring their family some consolation.
"When I live through the experience of the bomb and when I went to Omagh on Tuesday morning to see the sight and what had happened to those poor children it took a long time to think about what had happened." Victor said.
"But the people here in Buncrana, the Gardai, all the local people, my neighbours in particular have been so wonderful that they have helped my wife and I in particular through this difficult time," he added.
"The one thing I would like to say is that I do not for one minute think that the people in this area that came to see me and help me are representative in any way of the people that have committed that act of appalling violence, Mr Barker said.
"I can only say that those children didn't deserve what they went through and to have let off that sort of bomb, in that area, at that time, is the most cruel and inhuman thing I have seen in my life. I only hope that the people that did it will now stop,"
"I don't want them to be punished for what they did. I just want them to say now that they will finish it. That they will stop it and they won't do it to anyone else's children. If my son has died for that reason then it will be a small consolation for his mother," he concluded.
