HORRIFIED AND DISGUSTED - BUNCRANA CHAIRMAN

Horrified and disgusted - Buncrana Chairman

The Sinn Fein Chairman of Buncrana Urban District Council, Colr. Jim Ferry, said he was 'horrified and disgusted' at the attack on Omagh which claimed the lives of twenty eight people.
"Nobody needs to ask me how I feel, I am totally horrified and I condemn those people who did this. I call on them to accept responsibility and to end this violence."
Colr. Ferry who described the bombing as 'an attack on innocent men, women and children," also warned that the Peace Process must be kept on track.
"If the people who did this think that they could de-rail the Peace Process then they are wrong. The Peace Process is here to stay and it is now up to the politicians to make it work," he said.
He also called on politicans not to use the bombing for political point scoring.
Expressing his sympathy to all those affected by the bomb, Colr. Ferry also said he hoped the act of savagery would not stop Spanish students from visiting the seaside town.
"They have been coming for years and the people of Buncrana have welcome them into their homes, I would hate see that their visits would stop because of this."
However the local councillor realises that the sense of bewilderment felt by the families of those students must be as great as that of the people in Buncrana
"It is the worst tragedy ever to befall Buncrana. The whole place is in shock he said.
