WE MUST MAKE THEM PAY

We must make them pay - Colr Gill

HEARTBROKEN BUNCRANA based Councillor Seamus Gill yesterday urged the authorities on both sides of the border to make the people responsible for Saturday's bombing pay.
Describing Saturday's attack as 'murder most evil,' Colr. Gill said that when the people responsible are brought to justice they must be made to pay the full penalty.
"What has happened in the past when people were brought to justice, justice was meted out. Then after a certain amount of time sympathy set in and those people were released without a thought for the anguish they had caused everybody else.."
The Fine Gael councillor maintained the two governments had a mandate from the people who had voted for peace to make sure that those responsible for this atrocity served their sentence in full.
"Sometimes 1 think though that a lengthy prison sentence is not enough. When I looked at those three young boys in their coffins on Monday night and thought that those responsible, even if they were caught, could be walking free again in a few years time."
Colr. Gill said he had never been in favour of people receiving the death sentence, but in cases like this there had to be a case for sentences of a maximum nature.
"This is a long story. From the people who stole the car, to the people who hid it while it was being primed, to the people who drove it and those who masterminded the attack, they all have to be brought to justice, " he said.
"I hope that if these people are caught they are not allowed to walk free again having deprived so many young lives, so many families, parents and grandparents with their act of savagery," he concluded.
