This is the scene which will live with the people of County Donegal for the rest of their lives.
A scene of devastation following an unforgivable act which ripped the heart out of nearby Omagh and claimed the lives of 28 people including three innocent little boys from Buncrana.
Their two Spanish friends lay dead in the rubble beside them as the rest of the world looked on in horror and asked why?
But this was only the beginning of the real horror which will face the people of Ireland both North and South for the rest of their lives with hundreds badly maimed.
In County Donegal today, a huge outpouring of grief will take place in the seaside town of Buncrana as friends Oran Doherty (8), Shaun McLaughlin (12) and James Barker (12) are finally laid to rest.
President Mary McAleese and leader of the Ulster Unionist Party David Trimble are among the thousands of people expected to attend the funeral Mass at Cockhill Church at 11am.
On Monday evening the people of Derry united in grief with their Buncrana neighbours as they held candles along the route as the young boys' bodies arrived home in the town, Men, women and children wept openly as the three little coffins came home to a town distraught with grief.
Heartbroken Mickey Doherty, father of Oran, told the 'People's Press' he does not know how he will face the future without his Celtic-mad son.
"I just want to die now. I have nothing left now that my little man has gone. I would give anything to see his little feet walk up the road now but I know 1 won't," he said.
Only a few yards away his heartbroken neighbour Patricia McLaughlin, mother of Shaun asked why?
"All this suffering for a piece of land and that is all it is. We have never wanted any part of this and now my Shaun is gone."
