Oxfam Ireland has launched its Big Christmas Fast. 1998 has been a year of disasters - Famine in Sudan, Hurricane Mitch in Central America, horrific flooding in Bangladesh and China, earthquakes in Afghanistan, Hurricane George in the Caribbean, and conflict in Kosovo. The lives of millions of poor people across the world have been turned upside down by these events. Help is needed more than ever before. Hundreds of people have already signed up, but more are needed. The Irish pubic can help by choosing any day in December to do a 24 hour.
