DISSIDENTS EXTRADITION CASE ON HOLD

Dissident's extradition case on hold
BY ALAN ERWIN

A TOP dissident republican wanted in Lithuania over an alleged arms smuggling plot may not learn his fate until next year.
Liam Campbell's extradition hearing was adjourned in Belfast yesterday due to issues around witness availability.
Lawyers for the 47-year-old of Upper Faughart, Dundalk, Co Louth, one of the men held responsible for the Omagh bomb atrocity, want to call people from Lithuania to give evidence on his behalf.
Campbell's legal team claim he will be subjected to inhumane and degrading conditions if transferred into custody in the Baltic republic.
A source close to the case indicated that a final outcome was now unlikely before the end of the year.
