Gardai to stand trial

TWO senior gardai will stand trial today accused of lying in court while giving evidence against a man accused of involvement in the Omagh bombing.
Detective Garda John Fahy and Liam Donnelly were due to appear at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to face charges of perjury, forgery and using a forged document.
Both have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Mr Fahy (53), of Glaslough, Co Monaghan and Mr Donnelly (50), of Cavan Town, gave evidence in the 2001 trial of Colm Murphy.
The trial is estimated to last for around eight days.
