Parents of Omagh 'child of hope' set to marry

THE parents of the child hailed as a beacon of hope after surviving the Omagh bomb atrocity in 1998 are getting married today Nicola Emery and her partner Michael Mulholland were tying the knot at Trinity Presbyterian Church in the town, with their four-year-old child as a flowergirl. Now named Chloe 'Hope' Valerie, the child will radiate her own special energy at the church service.
Her parents and Nicola's mum Valerie were caught up in the blast and all suffered injuries that required hospitalisation.
The service is being conducted by the Rev Robert Herron, who has helped the couple recover from their injuries and anguish since the August 15 blast.
When Chloe was born five days after the bomb, doctors hailed the event as "a real ray of sunshine amid the darkness".
Valerie heard of the birth of her granddaughter from her own hospital bed, and "wept tears of joy" at the news.
The couple have picked St Valentine's Day to help make their special occasion truly memorable.
