Omagh tribute on CD
AN OMAGH songwriter, who witnessed the full horror of the 1998 bombing in the town, has penned a poignant tribute dedicated to the victims of the atrocity. Jonathan Mehaffey's song, The Spires of Hope, has been included as a bonus track on the singer's first CD single release entitled Only You. Both songs come from a forthcoming album from the 30-year-old singer-songwriter. The title track is a country love song written by Jonathan himself, while The Spires of Hope recalls the terrible events of almost four years ago.
On August 15,1998, Jonathan was working as a salesman in S D Kells' menswear shop when the 350lb car bomb exploded, just feet from the premises. Jonathan's memories of that terrible day inspired him to write a song dedicated to those who died.
The CD is available in all local musical outlets in Omagh and Enniskillen.
