I'M NOT QUITTING OVER THIS
BELEAGURED Chief Constable Sir Ronnie Flanagan denied yesterday he was quitting because of Omagh.
Even though he had been expected to stay on until the first recruits to the new Police Service of Northern Ireland finish their training, he will be standing down early next year. The Chief Constable handed in his notice to the policing board last week.
He said yesterday: "There is absolutely no link whatever. "I informed the police board well before this.
After discussion with the chairman and before receipt of any report (the ombudsman's) that by the end of the month I would formalise that in writing. "There is no connection whatever."
