OMAGH PRAYS AT SERVICE IN FOLK PARK
Omagh prays at service in folk park

A PARTICULARLY poignant service of remembrance has been held for the victims of the US terror attack at the Ulster-American Folk Park near Omagh. Those who lost loved ones in the Real IRA bomb which killed 29 people in Omagh in August 1998 were among those who took part last night. They were joined by many people who were injured in the bomb.
Afterwards Donna Marie McGillion, who suffered third degree burns to more than half her body, said the people of Omagh could feel the pain of the people of New York and Washington. She said: "The physical pain and mental pain and what they are going to come through in the next few years we can fully understand. "All we can do is show the solidarity that they did with us three years ago."
Omagh has already demonstrated that solidarity.
The townspeople reacted with generosity when a group of US dancers who had been visiting the area were stranded after the New York and Washington atrocities. Members of the Bailey Mountain Cloggers, who had travelled to Northern Ireland for a music festival at the Ulster-American Folk Park, were provided with free goods and services, including accommodation, meals and toiletries.
Staff at the folk park also held a collection for the American visitors.
