OMAGH LOVE STORY IN TV SERIES
Omagh love story in TV series
By Eddie Mcllwaine
FORMER film star Susan George is shooting a documentary about the love affair of Omagh bomb couple Gary McGillion and Donna Marie Keyes. Donna Marie is the girl whose face was so badly injured that she was forced to wear a plastic mask as she recovered.
Miss George was impressed by the story of how she still kept her date at the altar with Gary, who was also badly burned and who lost his niece in the explosion. The actress has now included the film of their relationship in a series called The Power of Love, featuring six real life couples who overcome great handicaps to be together.
And Miss George has been in touch with UTV senior producer Michael Beattie to borrow scenes of the couple's wedding last March for an award-winning Insight programme for her documentary.
The Power of Love film is now at the editing stage and will be part of the series.
