OMAGH VICTIMS INSPIRATION FOR PEACE
Omagh victims 'inspiration for peace'
The dignity and courage shown by the victims of the Omagh bomb should be the inspiration to politicians to find a lasting peace, Sinn Fein chief negotiator Martin McGuinness said today.
'Even in their darkest hour, the victims of the Omagh bomb gave us hope. Rather than seeking revenge they called on the politicians to make the peace process work.'
'Their dignity was inspirational. It is now encumbent on all pro-agreement politicians to build a monument worthy of that dignity and inspiration by redoubling our effort to find a lasting peace.'
And he was scathing at those responsible for the bomb.
'Those republican rejectionists consistently attempted to derail the peace process in which Sinn Fein is involved,' he said.
