SKIPPER WELCOMES FRIENDLY

Skipper welcomes friendly

NORTHERN Ireland captain Steve Lomas today welcomed the news that Lawrie McMenemy's team will travel to Dublin for a friendly with the Republic of Ireland next May.
All proceeds of the game, to be played on Saturday, the 29th, will go the Omagh Appeal Fund.
"I think it is the least we can do," said Lomas.
"It is a great idea and will be applauded by all the players."
The teams last met in Dublin in March 1995 with Iain Dowie scoring in a 1-1 draw.
"We are all Irish lads and will try to do our bit," added Lomas.
"It is good that we can go to Dublin and play the Republic in a friendly to show that the peace process is still ongoing."
The May meeting will be the first time North and South have met in a senior friendly.
