OMAGH SUSPECTS HELD IN SWOOPS

Omagh suspects held in swoops

THREE Omagh bomb suspects were arrested in dawn swoops by heavily armed detectives in Dundalk today.
The men, who are being held at Garda stations in Carrickmacross and Monaghan, are being questioned about the theft of the maroon coloured Vauxhall Cavalier car which was used in the bomb attack on August 15.
The car was stolen in Carrickmacross two days before the bombing, which killed 29 people.
Thirteen people were arrested in a concerted operation by the RUC and the Garda in counties Armagh and Monaghan last week.
They were questioned in connection with the Omagh bombing, but all were later released without charge.
The latest suspects were detained under the Offences Against the State Act which allows gardai to hold them for questioning for up to 72 hours.
