Ginola 'signs' for Derry match

SPURS' French star David Ginola will play for Derry City against a Mick McCarthy XI in a game to raise funds for the Omagh appeal at Brandywell next month.
City manager Felix Healy hopes to add another Premiership player or two, including one from Manchester United, for the game which will be played on October 6.
Spurs manager David Pleat has confirmed that Ginola will be free to take part in the game and said that had he been asked he would have brought over the entire Tottenham team.
Republic manager McCarthy said that striker John Aldridge and keeper Packie Bonner will also take part in the game.
Kevin Sheedy is interested in taking part but the bulk of the squad will be made up of current internationals.
The complete make-up of the two squads should be known by this weekend.
Tickets, which cost £6 and £5, went on sale today in Derry, Strabane, Omagh, Letterkenny and Buncrana.
They will be allocated on a first come, first served basis for the new stand while the old stand will be reserved for invited guests including relatives of the Omagh victims.
Meanwhile, City are in action tonight with a place in the semifinals of the League Cup at stake.
Cork City, who beat Derry at Turner's Cross on the second weekend of the league programme two weeks ago, are their opponents.
Healy has doubts over Liam Coyle, substituted during Sunday's goalless draw with Shamrock Rovers, and Paul Hegarty.
Cork are not without their own worries, notably midfielder Patsy Freyne.
Tonight's game has a 7.30pm kick-off and will be played to a finish.
