Suspected RIRA member quizzed

A suspected leading member of the Real IRA is being quizzed by gardai in connection with the supplying of stolen vehicles for use in bombings.
The man was one of four men detained over the weekend by gardai and taken to Carrickmacross Garda Station in Co Monaghan for questioning.
They were being quizzed by the Garda team set up to investigate the Omagh bombing and in particular who supplied the stolen Vauxhall Cavalier car used in the bombing.
The team led by Assistant Commissioner Kevin Carty has questioned 15 people about RIRA activities since they began their inquiries a month ago.
Another team of detectives led by Assistant Commissioner Tony Hickey is based at Drogheda in Co Louth and is probing the criminal activities of members of the Real IRA and their associates.
Assistant Commissioner Hickey is the Garda officer who led the investigation into the murder of journalist Veronica Guerin outside Dublin in June 1996 and is regarded as one of the Garda's most successful crime investigators.
