ROAD TO RECOVERY
AUGUST 1998 - Candlelight Vigil held in the town centre three days after the bomb.
Inter-agency Group set up to deal with the aftermath of the bomb. Those involved included - Sperrin Lakeland Trust, Omagh District Council, RUC, NIHE, Omagh Church Forum, WELB, Omagh Women's Area Network, Voluntary Groups and FOCUS.
SEPTEMBER - American President Bill Clinton visits the town along with Prime Minister Tony Blair.
OCTOBER - Day Out in Omagh - Children from Omagh and Buncrana enjoy a fun day sponsored by Celtic FC - Relatives of the Buncrana and Spanish victims attend a special service in Madrid.
NOVEMBER - Give a Day to Omagh Campaign - A new drive spearheaded by the Chamber of Commerce to boost the number of shoppers coming into the town.
The Bridge of Hope album launched - The disc featured many of Ireland's top performers including U2, Van Morrison, Sinead O'Connor and Boyzone. The Omagh Community Youth Choir recorded the cover tune, which was taken from a poem written by one of the victims.
Community Activist Healing Day - A forum to allow community workers to tell their story and to air their grief. They were also given advice and support to cope with trauma fatigue.
DECEMBER - Christmas Together Project - Local children designed cards to be sent to the injured and bereaved.
Switching On the Lights ceremony, which was attended by thousands of people. Special guest was Daniel O'Donnell.
JANUARY - Community Dialogue - A peace building group set up where representatives from local organisations aired their views on the political situation.
MARCH - Petals of Hope, Rays of Light exhibition launched Catholic and Protestant schoolchildren create pictures from the floral tributes laid after bomb.
MAY - May Queen Cycling Festival Fun Day.
JULY - The Governor of Colorado, Bill Owen, visits the town along with friends of those killed in the High School Massacre in Littleton.
AUGUST - Special anniversary services to be held in Omagh and Tyrone.
