IRELAND'S SHAME
Ireland's Shame
In a community as closely knit as Ireland, someone knows the identity of those who carried out the Omagh bomb attack. The unavoidable conclusion is that those who could help the RUC and Garda track down the killers choose to remain silent.
Key suspects have been identified in all but name, but without evidence, and witnesses who are willing to testify, detectives are powerless.
It will be to the eternal shame of the people on this island if the Omagh bombers do not face justice.
The image portrayed to the world last August was of a society outraged by what had happened. The attitude begins to ring very hollow today.
