Omagh's annual firework display cancelled
TOMORROW'S annual fireworks display in Omagh has been cancelled.
The organisers, Omagh Junior Chamber, said it has been abandoned in the light of the trauma suffered by the people of the Tyrone town following the bombing on August 15.
Thousands of people attend the event annually but a spokesperson for the Chamber said it would have been insensitive to hold the display this year.
Medical experts last week warned that young people setting off bangers in the area in recent weeks were causing further trauma to those affected by the Real IRA bombing, which killed 29 people and injured hundreds of others.
