THE Duke and Duchess of Gloucester have visited Omagh and met members of the emergency services who helped victims of the Real IRA bomb.
The Royal couple were welcomed to Omagh District Council's offices yesterday by chief executive John McKinney. They met councillors and members of the Omagh bomb fundraising committee.
They also viewed plans for the rebuilding of the devastated town under the Omagh Renewal and Beyond programme.
After a private meeting with members of the security forces, the couple visited Omagh leisure centre where they met members of the emergency services who worked tirelessly in the immediate aftermath of the carnage.
Accompanied by the Duke and Duchess of Abercorn, the visitors met groups including the ambulance service, the Sperrin Lakeland Trust, health centre workers, social services employees and members of the fire service and hospital workers.
The Duke and Duchess were expected to attend a private lunch today.
