Families attend Madrid Mass

THE VICTIMS of the Omagh bomb were to be remembered at a special memorial service in Spain today.
Family and friends of the three boys from Buncrana who died in the Real IRA massacre have travelled to Madrid to join relatives of the two Spanish victims of the blast for the memorial Mass.
Fernando Blasco (12) and Rocio Abad (23), who were in Co Donegal on an exchange trip, died in the explosion during an outing to the Ulster American Folk Park.
Buncrana schoolboys Oran Doherty (8) James Barker (12) and Sean McLaughlin (11) also died in the explosion.
Before flying out yesterday, Sinead McLaughlin, coordinator of the exchange visits, said: I think it is very important, being from Buncrana, that I share my grief with the people of Madrid.
"For me, personally, that is a very important step in the whole healing process."
Jim Sheridan, vice-chairman of Buncrana Urban Council, said locals wanted the people of Madrid to know that their loss and grief had not been forgotten.
