CHURCHES in bomb-torn Omagh have organised a Way of the Cross walk around the streets of the town for Sunday, November 1.
A cross will be carried in relays along the route taken by ambulances and helpers to Tyrone County Hospital and a pause for prayer on the site of the Real lRA bomb which killed 29 and injured more than 200.
The symbolism of the event is the Gospel story of Simon of Cyrene helping Jesus to carry His Cross to Calvary and a gesture to all those who have helped the people of Omagh "carry their cross of suffering".
