Royal art set to raise cash for Omagh

A SIGNED lithograph of a painting by the Prince of Wales is expected to raise over £3,000 at a Dublin auction this week in aid of the Omagh Memorial Fund.
'Windsor Castle, a North Aspect' is one of over 240 works of art which will go under the hammer on Wednesday at the National Concert Hall.
All proceeds will be used to pay for physiotherapy for victims of the atrocity as well as for new equipment for the intensive care unit at the Tyrone County Hospital.
The hospital, which is still treating over 40 people on an out-patient basis for shrapnel wounds, fractures and burns, plans to buy laser machines, rehabilitation equipment and monitors.
Prince Charles, a keen artist, never sells any of his work but has copied some as limited edition lithographs.
The example donated to the auction is signed by him, dated 1995 and embossed with his coat of arms.
A spokeswoman for Prince Charles described the donation as "quite a significant gesture"
She explained that the Prince had been very touched by what he saw when he visited Omagh in the wake of the bombing.
"He especially admired the work of the security services and the medical staff," she added.
"He really wanted to help the people of Omagh and this is a small token to help them try to cope with what happened."
The sale has been organised by Roscommon accountant Fergus Ahern and Dublin auctioneer John De Vere White.
A similar venture organised six years ago by the pair raised £40,000 for famine victims in Somalia.
