Fashion show aid for bomb victims fund

THE younger brother of a 12-year-old Buncrana boy, killed in the Omagh atrocity, is to take part in a Londonderry fashion show in aid of the bomb victims fund.
Oliver Tristram Barker, whose brother James was one of three boys from the Co Donegal town murdered on August 15, is to join a host of celebrities and youngsters on the catwalk tonight.
Rev Ruth Adams, who buried a number of the dead and worked with many of those who were seriously injured. is travelling from Omagh and will be presented with a cheque from the proceeds.
The event, organised by Jeanette Warke, was originally planned to raise funds for the South African township of Soweto.
But plans were hastily revised after the Omagh atrocity and other events were arranged later in the year to help the people of Soweto.
Mrs Warke decided that the proceeds of the fashion show, to take place at The Playhouse, should instead be donated to the Omagh Memorial Fund.
"I think in this case charity should begin at home," she explained.
"But we have not forgotten Soweto and a number of events have been planned to raise funds for the people there, including a cross community choir event next month."
Taking part in this week's fashion show will be a number of well-known local personalities.
