Mick backs match for Omagh victims

DERRY City will play a Mick McCarthy Select side next month to raise money for the victims of the Omagh bomb tragedy, writes Peter Hutcheon.
McCarthy's side will include several current internationals and the game will be played at Brandywell on October 6 with admission £5.
Derry announced details of the game at a press conference in Dublin this morning.
Meanwhile, keeper Tony O'Dowd today joined Shamrock Rovers for a fee of £7,000.
The Dubliner has not had the happiest of seasons so far, but he stressed that he had not requested the move.
"I said that if the two clubs could agree a fee then we could take it from there."
Newcastle United's Shay Given has been shortlisted for the senior award in the 1998 FAI Opel International soccer awards.
The Donegal keeper will be up against Manchester United's Denis Irwin and Wimbldeon's Kenny Cunningham.
Given has also been shortlisted for the young player of the year award with Wolves' Robbie Keane and Damien Duff of Blackburn the others on the list.
The National League player of the year award will not be won by a Derry City player this year, reflecting last year's poor campaign.
The shortlist for that award is Declan Daly of Cork City, Colin Hawkins of St Patrick's Athletic and Pat Scully of Shelbourne.
