The bombers' clouded vision
DID the bombers not see in Omagh on Saturday the thousands of ordinary people, visitors from all parts of Ireland and some from Spain thronging in the streets - people who live in peace with their neighbours and voted for peace together with their neighbours and who dared dream that their votes would count for something?
What was it they saw in Omagh last Saturday that offended so much that they had to blow the town and so many of its people and their dreams to smithereens?
What they saw and what they tried to destroy was the thing they fear most. A society in which they cannot survive.
A society living, working and united in a common bond to better one's lot. A society celebrating life together, worshipping in their various
churches in peace and harmony. A society working for each other's mutual benefit.
A society that smothers the very thing that these psychopaths feed and fester on. a society that denies them a lifeline of bigotry, hate, fear and antagonism, without which they will fade into obscurity.
