PEOPLE MUST BE RESOLUTE IN THE FACE OF TERRORISM
People must be resolute in the face of terrorism
THE Belfast Humanist Group would like to express their condolences to all those bereaved by the murderous attack on the people of Omagh.
We also send our sympathy to those injured and wish them all a speedy recovery.
It is indeed a sad time for the decent people of Northern Ireland who wish to live at peace with their neighbours and build a better society for future generations. All our hopes seem to have been smashed by the cruel inhumanity of ruthless killers.
The Belfast Humanist Group supports the work of the RUC and Garda Siochana in their efforts to bring the perpetrators of this horrific slaughter to justice. The full weight of the law must be brought to bear on such vicious murderers. We urge anyone who can assist the law enforcement agencies to do so. Justice must prevail.
All the decent citizens of this province must show by their words and actions that they will not be driven back into sectarian attitudes by this atrocity.
We appeal to our fellow citizens to be resolute in the face of terrorism, as we have so often in the past, and to support every attempt to heal the divisions in our society.
Our common humanity unites us. Peace, reconciliation and justice are still our goals and we will not be deflected from that path.
