Royal family attends service
REPRESENTATIVES of Spain's royal family and British and Irish politicians joined relatives of Fernando Blasco Baselga and Abad Ramos, the two Spaniards killed in the Omagh bomb blast, for a memorial service in Madrid.
Around 200 people gathered at the church in Madrid including relatives and friends of the two victims whose funerals were held on Tuesday, the day their bodies were flown home from Northern Ireland.
The Spaniards, Fernando Blasco Baselga (12) and Abad Ramos (23) the Spanish children's group monitor, were among 28 people killed in the car bomb blast last Saturday.
Twelve young Spaniards were among the more than 300 people injured in the attack.
Princess Elena and her husband, Jaime de Marichalar, represented the royal family while Foreign Minister Abel Matutes, deputy Irish Prime Minister Mary Harney and John McFall of the Northern Ireland Office also attended.
Meanwhile, the families of Spaniards killed or injured in the Omagh bomb attack will be due full compensation payment, the British Embassy in Madrid said today.
Under British regulations, innocent victims of the violence in Northern Ireland shall receive indemnity payment regardless of their nationality, the national news agency Efe said, citing an embassy statement.
